Andrea Hopkins

“I am originally from the Philippines, and before Audiology I studied Psychology at one of the most prestigious Universities in the country - University of Santo Tomas.  After Psychology I moved into Audiology and never regretted it!  After graduating with my Masters in Audiology, I took part in a nationwide project investigating the prevalence of hearing loss.  During this time I was also involved in educating community groups about hearing care.”

"I moved to New Zealand in 2006 to work at Palmerston North Hospital, as an Audiologist in Paediatrics.  After 3 years in the public health sector, I moved to private practice to concentrate more on adults with hearing loss.  During this time I’ve built up an excellent reputation for service, and in recognition was promoted to Charge Clinician in 2014.  I’ve been a Full Member of NZAS since 2007, and have been involved in their Membership and Supervision Subcommittee from 2014-2019.”

“As well as seeing adults at Heartland Hearing & Balance in Feilding, I also see babies and young children at Palmerston North Hospital and currently working on my Paediatric VRA and Habilitation certificates."

“I am currently on maternity leave and on full-time mommy duties to my 7 month old daughter and my 5 year old son who’s nuts over LEGO and drawings.  In my spare time (if I have any) I also enjoy baking and the performing arts.  I am the lead dance and teacher/choreographer of Aziza Bellydance Palmerston North - look out for us!  We are a local Arabic-inspired-Bellydance-troupe."
