  • Palmerston North Clinic or Feilding Clinic.

Local
Heartland Hearing & Balance is locally owned.  It is based in Manawatu - with fully equipped clinics in both Feilding and Palmerston North.  There are no overseas shareholders to satisfy, and no corporations making decisions on your behalf.  There is no ‘head office’ in Auckland to answer to.  We are not a ‘visiting clinic’, so ongoing support is never far away.

Independent
This is an independent audiology clinic.  This means that we’re not a chain and we’re not owned by a hearing aid manufacturer, so we’re free to recommend any solution available on the market.  When you visit Heartland Hearing & Balance, you can be certain that we’ll recommend the hearing solution that really is the very best for your particular hearing, your lifestyle, and your budget.

Experienced
Both Janine and Sam have seen many patients over many years, of all ages, from neonates (newborn babies) through to 103 years old (so far!).  Sam has been Full Members of the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) for many years, and has served on the Membership and Supervision Subcommittee of the NZAS.  Sam has also previously been convenor of this committee.  This committee has the responsibility of ensuring educational and clinical standards remain at a high level for Audiologists in NZ.  Sam has trained and supervised Master of Audiology students from both Auckland and Canturbury Universities, and has also trained and supervised newly qualified or overseas audiologists as they work towards their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).  Janine has worked in the Audiology Department at Hutt Hospital for over 10 years, and is a provisional Audiometrist Member of the NZ Audiological Society.

Qualified
Janine holds a Diploma of Audiology from TAFE (NSW) and a National Certificate (Level 3) in newborn hearing screening.  Jo is a Registered Nurse who holds both a Bachelor of Nursing and a Post-Graduate Diploma of Nursing.  Sam holds two University qualifications in Audiology: Master of Audiology, M.Aud (Hons), from The University of Auckland; Doctor of Audiology, Au.D, from Salus University (Philadelphia, USA).  In addition to his university degrees, Sam is an accredited assessor for Enable NZ, Veterans’ Affairs NZ, and ACC.  He holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS), and a Paediatric Certificate in Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR).  Sam and Janine are both bound by the Code of Ethics of the NZAS.  Sam is also an International Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), and a member of the New Zealand Society for Balance Dizziness and Vertigo (NZSBDV).

Best Value
In addition to subsidies for people who qualify (eg. Veterans’ Affairs, ACC etc, see Hearing Aid Funding), an additional DISCOUNT is offered for those with either a Community Services Card, or Super Gold Card.  Although we offer best value, there is no compromise on the quality of the service.  All testing is done with ‘state-of-the-art’ diagnostic equipment, in a fully certified sound-proof area, and appointments allow plenty of time for discussion of results.  All hearing aids are fitted on a TRIAL BASIS, which means you get a FULL REFUND of the cost of the hearing aids, if you decide to return them within the 8 week trial period (conditions apply).
